Sample Trainings Include (yet not limited to):

Animal Facilitated Mental Health: Participants will be introduced to the exciting field of animal guided growth and learning.  Discover how working with animals can directly teach individuals to put pride and ego aside and learn to improve self-awareness and develop skills to more effectively manage their emotions.

Therapeutic Touch & Self Massage Techniques:  Participants learn user friendly and beneficial routines to share with clients and or parents, guardians, and other direct care providers. Approach has its roots in Therapeutic Massage, QiGong and Reflexology.  Adaptive strategies are taught and discussed when direct touch with clients is prohibited within your practice.  We discuss ethical implications and precautions for safely supporting individuals who have experienced trauma and discuss professional standards necessary for incorporating body work as a therapeutic modality.

Compassionate Drill Sergeant: What is it? How does one balance these two roles together?  Explore the successful strategies at the foundation of this approach as well as communication tools and "ways of being" that can be directly applied into your work tomorrow.

Cognitive Linguistics: Am I Helping or Hurting?    This workshop explores awareness of how we ourselves can make or break any situation by our own thoughts, feelings, and language used.  Highly interactive activities with a focus on effective communication for forward movement. Strategies learned have their roots within neuro-linguistic psychology and experiential learning.

Martial Mental Health:   This workshop focuses on non-combative martial art forms that have their roots within Traditional Chinese Medicine and focus on energy cultivation.   Through moving meditation one will learn a system for connecting mind, movement and breath. These forms have been known to reduce anxiety and depression and improve sleep quality, clarity and focus of intention.

Finding Calm Within the Storm: This workshop focuses on personal  & professional  strategies for maintaining balance and a sense of calm in your busy and sometimes frenetic day.  Discover how one can remain in control of themselves while managing frustrating and or extremely difficult situations.

Building Physical & Emotional Stamina
Through Proprioceptive Conditioning: Proprioception is a distinct sensory modality providing awareness of internal feedback on one’s movement in relation to a sense of equilibrium and balance.  This active and kinesthetic workshop focuses on plyometric and cardiovascular exercises that can be used one exercise at a time or put together for an ongoing routine specific to the client’s/student's needs.    Have a small office space or classroom?  Don’t worry, all space constrictions will be discussed, adapted and planned for.  Dress comfortably and bring a water bottle.  You will be moving and doing!

Compassion Fatigue: Compassion fatigue...what is it?  What can I do? Find out the answers to these questions and more. Build inner-resilience, rejuvenate hope, and walk away  inspired.   Participants will practice strategies for self care that they can walk away with and keep doing every day at home and in your practice.

w/ Johnson State College

Masters in Counseling Program.

Experiential Strategies for Counseling with Children: TBD, Summer 2010

This course demonstrates how alternative approaches can support rapport building and buffer treatment resistance.  Participants learn and practice strategies to help define a client’s core belief system as well as bring to light the roles that fear, grief, and anger play in their lives.    We compare and contrast traditional counseling/education practices for individual and family therapeutic work with alternative approaches and perspectives on

mental health development and enhanced well being.

This course is offered through Johnson State College's Counseling Program, keep checking to see when our next session will be offered.  Having a private course tailored to your groups learning needs is also an option.   Call today to determine if this makes sense for your group.
