 Questions

Q: How do you describe what you do?

A: We are therapeutic educators who guide learning through creating opportunities to move one's body.  We use a genuine, no-nonsense, get results, interactive approach.  We specialize in experiential learning utilizing movement based activities which help you rediscover and rekindle balance in your life.

Q: Do participants have to work with animals or go to the barn?
A:  No.  We incorporate a variety of interactive and integrated learning approachs that can occur at the barn, within our indoor learning space, or at your site for professional development training.  Within our varied spaces, you may participate in martial mental health initiatives, meditation and body work or explore intention art work, therapeutic touch, or animal assisted learning.  You determine the approach that may be best for you and your needs and you will direct your experiences with us.

Q: What are Animal Enhanced Programs?

A:  We do not offer therapeutic riding activities.  Participants do not ride the horses.  We do offer an interactive experience providing an opportunity for one to learn about him or herself through interaction with animals and nature.  The activities are
goal directed, the goal being to improve the individual's quality of life through participation with the human animal bond.  We incorporate the animal experiences into metaphors for easy application to every day life.  Our "team" includes different types of animals  for you to work with.   It must be stressed again: we do not provide riding lessons with the horses on our animal team.  We participate in interaction from the ground, also known as "ground work" and focus on positive interactions, effective communication, trust, emotional regulation and energy awareness.

Q: Is This Therapy?  No, this is not traditional therapy. The activities are however very therapeutic and educational.  We focus on skill development in the areas of: regulation, state awareness, inner resilience, emotional stamina, improved relationships, communication skills, and productive coping strategies for the challenges that life throws your way.  We specialize in structured and patterned somatosensory activities targeted at improving healing, and self-regulation.

Q: Do I or my child need to be working with a mental health provider
in order to participate?

A:  No, however, many of our clients are working within the context of a team and we are considered an adjunct therapeutic approach within the context of the team.  Many of our clients are experiencing personal life transitions and are coping with ongoing challenges within their daily lives.  Most access our support for guidance and feedback on maintaining forward movement and improved well being.
